Two openings are changing breakfast hours in Cambrian this fall. The Posh Bagel opened at 2005 Camden Ave. in September and serves from 6:30 a.m. Cambrian Perk, a coffee shop at 1814 Hillsdale Ave., is aiming to open in November with tentative hours that run until 4 p.m. Put them together and the neighborhood's coffee-and-breakfast hours stretch on both ends. The early start is here now. The later finish is planned but not confirmed.
Here is how the morning stacks up right now, using the latest published hours for each spot.
| Spot | Address | Hours | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Posh Bagel | 2005 Camden Ave. | Daily, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. | Open since September 2026 |
| Cambrian Perk | 1814 Hillsdale Ave., Suite C | Daily, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., tentative | Targeting November 2026 |
| Mix Huevos | 5365 Camden Ave. | 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mon–Thu; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fri–Sun | Hours as reported in May 2026 |
| Leigh High School Certified Farmers Market | 5210 Leigh Ave. | Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Year-round |
The Posh Bagel's new café is in the Lucky Supermarket center on Camden Avenue. A Mercury News story from September 3 put it plainly: the crepe station just inside the front door is "the first sign to customers that this new South San Jose cafe is more than a bagel shop." Past the crepes, the counters make "eggwiches," sandwiches, smoothies, Italian cream sodas, and coffee drinks.
The Posh Bagel isn't new to the South Bay. The group started in 1992 in Los Altos, and the original Main Street shop is still open. It now runs 11 shops between San Francisco, Los Gatos, and Modesto, according to managing partner Thang Le. The Camden café is the second in San Jose, after the one in Almaden Valley.
The Mercury News reported that customers had already picked favorites:
The hours matter for the rest of this post. Like the chain's other shops, the Camden café opens early and closes in mid-afternoon. The same story noted that "extended afternoon hours might be in the future" because the menu leans so heavily on sandwiches and crepes. For now, the counter closes at 2:30 p.m.
Cambrian Perk is set to cover the hours after that 2:30 p.m. close. The owners signed their lease on August 30, 2026. They describe the café as a project of four local families with more than 50 combined years in the restaurant business, and they say they care most about "great coffee and exciting food." Their stated goal is "a warm morning spot for our own neighbors."
The address is 1814 Hillsdale Ave., Suite C. That puts it on the same stretch of Hillsdale Avenue as the Cambrian Branch Library at 1780 Hillsdale. Jaimie, the general manager, will run day-to-day operations.
Some details aren't settled yet. The November 2026 date is a target, and the only source for it is the café's own website. The 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. hours are also marked as tentative. The menu, in the owners' words, "is still being crafted with care." The website points people to the café's Instagram, @cambrianperk, for updates. If those hours hold, Hillsdale will have coffee for 90 minutes after Camden's bagel counter closes.
Mix Huevos, at 5365 Camden Ave., opens later and covers a different kind of meal. San José Spotlight profiled it in May 2026 and called it a California-Mexico brunch spot. At that time it was open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The menu runs to sit-down dishes like Chunky Monkey Pancakes, several styles of chilaquiles, a Cheesecake Waffle, and a few versions of eggs Benedict. Those hours come from a spring article, so a quick call before a weekend visit makes sense.
The two Camden addresses split the morning between them. The Posh Bagel covers the early hours with grab-and-go food, and Mix Huevos covers the later, slower brunch. Cambrian Perk would add an afternoon coffee option on Hillsdale.
The weekend version of all this has been running for a long time. The Leigh High School Certified Farmers Market sets up Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5210 Leigh Ave., near Blossom Hill Road, all year. The market's operator, CHAMP, has labeled its listing for the 2026 season.
Several of the market's current vendors sell breakfast. CHAMP's vendor page lists Strait Coffee, Holly Crepes, Little Sky Bakery, Empanada Love, and WhatCoffee & Bakery. The certified growers include Alberto Farms, Avila Farms, Hector's Organics, Lee Asian Farm, and Valois Farm. Vendor lineups can change during the season, and the page doesn't show an update date.
The Cambrian Branch Library on Hillsdale Avenue has its own morning schedule this fall, and all of it is free:
The Cambrian branch is closed all day on Monday, Oct. 12, for Indigenous Peoples' Day, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day, and on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26 and 27, for Thanksgiving.
With a November target, Cambrian Perk is unlikely to be open for the Oct. 29 Halloween Festival. Whether it opens before the Nov. 5 storytime depends on a date the owners haven't announced yet. The Posh Bagel on Camden is open on both mornings and stays open until 2:30.
There are two dates to watch. The first is Cambrian Perk's opening, which will be announced on its Instagram and website before anywhere else. The second is any change to The Posh Bagel's afternoon hours, which the Mercury News story described as a possibility. Either change would affect how long Cambrian's morning lasts. Until then, Camden Avenue covers 6:30 a.m. to early afternoon, and the Leigh Avenue market covers Saturday mornings.
I keep track of openings like these because they're part of what Cambrian feels like day to day. If you'd like to talk about the neighborhood, or about what's changing along Camden and Hillsdale, I'd be glad to hear from you. Ana Pace is happy to meet for coffee once Cambrian Perk opens.
